CapEd Credit Union is offering a bonus not only to you, but also to the school of your choosing when you sign up for a new personal checking account and meet the requirements.
To sweeten the deal, their high yield checking account offers one of the highest rates we've seen and membership can be obtained nationwide through a donation to the Idaho CapEd Foundation.
How To Earn The Bonus
The CapEd Federal Credit Union High Yield Checking promotion requires you to set up direct deposits and make purchases using the account's card in order to earn the $100 bonus (step-by-step breakdown is listed above!).
As with any offer, don't forget to read the fine print before opening your new account. It's where the credit union will clearly state who is eligible for the deal along with any nuances you'll want to be aware of.
The fine print
- Valid for members who do not have a CapEd personal checking account.
- Offer available on personal accounts only.
- Limit one $100 reward per SSN.

How to Join CapEd Federal Credit Union
Credit unions differ from banks in that they restrict membership based on a shared common bond, or the credit union’s “field of membership”.
That means in order to qualify for this bonus (or any offer from a credit union), you'll first need to meet one of CapEd Federal Credit Union's membership requirements:
- Be an employee of, a retiree from, a volunteer with, or a student of a public, private, or parochial school in one of the following Idaho counties: Ada, Adams, Blaine, Boise, Camas, Canyon, Cassia, Elmore, Gem, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka, Owyhee, Payette, Valley, or Washington.
- Be an employee of, a retiree from, a volunteer with, or a student of a public, private, or parochial school in one of the following Twin Falls County School Districts: Buhl School District, Castleford School District, College of Southern Idaho, Filer School District, Hansen School District, Murtaugh School District, Twin Falls School District, or Xavier Charter School
- Any member of your immediate family or household meets membership qualification.
- Any member of your immediate family or household is currently a CapEd member.
- Become a member of the Idaho CapEd Foundation through a one-time $20 donation.
Keep in mind that nearly all credit unions have a "once a member, always a member" policy, so once you're in, the above restrictions no longer apply.

November 15, 2023It's very interesting that the bonus goes to both you and a school that you choose. It seems like it's rare for bonuses to give back like this.
