How to Join SECU of Maryland
Credit unions differ from banks in that they restrict membership based on a shared common bond, or the credit union’s “field of membership”.

Took about 30 minutes, including funding the acct with a Plaid transfer from US Bank and snapping a selfie and a photo of my passport to verify my identity. Had to do a Google search to come up with the bank's routing number (255076753) so I could set up direct deposit from Social Security. Nice that this bank allows 90 days for direct deposits to be made; it takes Social Security at least 60 days to change where they send the check.

November 14, 2023I did this promotion last year and still have the account open but don’t use it. Periodically SECU sends me offers that ask me to use my debit card a certain number of times to earn a gift card. So that’s nice.
