CommunityAmerica Credit Union is offering a $200 welcome bonus (up from the previous $150 offer!) to those who open a new Chiefs Checking or Cashback Free Checking account.
This offer is part of their At Work Program and partnership with Burns & McDonnell, but the fine print doesn't state that you need to be associated with Burns & McDonnell, unlike the terms of the mortgage offer also listed on the page. So, YMMV.
How To Earn The Bonus
The CommunityAmerica Credit Union AtWork Checking promotion requires you to set up eligible direct deposits in order to earn the $200 bonus (step-by-step breakdown is listed above!).
As with any offer, don't forget to read the fine print before opening your new account. It's where the credit union will clearly state who is eligible for the deal along with any nuances you'll want to be aware of.
The fine print
- All account applications are subject to approval.
- Valid promo code must be included on application.
- Only for new Chiefs Checking or Cashback Free Checking accounts with a limit of one per membership.
- Minimum balance is not required to obtain the bonus offer or open the checking account.

How to Join CommunityAmerica Credit Union
Credit unions differ from banks in that they restrict membership based on a shared common bond, or the credit union’s “field of membership”.
That means in order to qualify for this bonus (or any offer from a credit union), you'll first need to meet one of CommunityAmerica Credit Union's membership requirements:
- Live or work in Jackson, Platte, Clay, Johnson, Douglas, Jefferson, Miami, Leavenworth, Shawnee, Wyandotte, or St. Louis County
- Employed in any of the cities of Bathany, Cameron, or Hannibal or with one of the 150+ partner employer groups.
- If a family member is either a current member or is eligible for membership by living or working within one of the 12 counties above, you can join, too. An eligible family member is defined as a spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, grandchild, aunt/uncle, niece/nephew, cousin or legal guardian and includes step, in-law and adoptive relationships.
Keep in mind that nearly all credit unions have a "once a member, always a member" policy, so once you're in, the above restrictions no longer apply.
