Citi® is offering up to a $1,500 cash bonus when you open a new Citi Priority Relationship Tier account with activities. Like most Citi promotions, this is a tiered offer based on the amount you're able to deposit and maintain in your new checking account.
Citi recently removed the upper tier to this bonus, making the max payout capping at their previous "middle tier". All told, the bonus amount ranges from $500 for depositing $30,000, up to the full $1,500 for depositing $200,000 or more.
Depending on when you deposit the cash (it needs to be there by the 20th day), the bonus represents an effective rate of roughly 4-11% on your savings. The $500 offer nets you the best effective rate, but every offer is significantly more than what you can find on most savings accounts. So if you have the cash, this is a great way to put it to work, risk-free.
It's important to note that this offer is available in most, but not all states.

How To Earn The Bonus
The Citi® Relationship Tier promotion requires you to deposit and maintain a minimum balance in order to earn the up to $1500 bonus (step-by-step breakdown is listed above!).
As with any offer, don't forget to read the fine print before opening your new account. It's where the bank will clearly state who is eligible for the deal along with any nuances you'll want to be aware of.
The fine print
- Must enroll in the offer by opening your account directly from the linked page. If you open your account on citi.com by any other means than those described, you will not be eligible to earn the New to Citi Checking Cash Bonus Offer.
- The balance on your 45th day will determine your maximum eligible cash bonus.
- Must maintain your balance for an additional 45 days from the 46st day. Should you fall to a lower tier (even for 1 day) within that window, your maximum bonus will drop to that tier.
- Only new checking customers can take advantage of this offer.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Funds must be new to Citi: funds deposited from external accounts or payees other than Citibank, N.A. and must be deposited using domestic ACH transfer, direct deposit, checks drawn on banks other than Citibank, N.A. or wire transfer.
- Cash deposits, Citi Global Transfers, international ACH transfers, Zelle® transactions and person-to-person transfer services such as Apple Pay, PayPal®, and Venmo, and Zelle®, do not qualify as New-to-Citi Funds.
- You cannot use a Citi® Accelerate Savings Account or a Citi® Savings Account to maintain your balance as part of this offer and still be eligible to earn the bonus.
- To remain eligible, your checking account must remain open and in good standing from the time it’s opened until you receive your bonus.

How does this personal checking offer from Citi® compare?
To help you determine how this bonus stacks against the rest, here are some of the most popular offers available right now:
Why Citi®?
Citi is headquartered in New York and has around 2,600 locations worldwide (about 1,000 of those are here in the U.S.) and over 65,000+ ATMs worldwide. So you really never need to worry about getting access to your cash.
Citi is best known for their credit cards, but they offer just about every product you'd expect from a big national bank – covering banking, lending, investing, and wealth management.
What we really love about Citi is the consistent promotions, usually available nationwide. When you open a new account or credit card, Citi will very often give you bonus cash.
What's more, Citi promotions are often tiered. The low requirements make the offers accessible to most people, but even better, Citi will reward you big if you can meet the highest terms.

July 10Hi, can anyone comment on how they can avoid the monthly fee for the account if you can't do direct deposit? For both Everyday Benefits account and the Citi Priority - "Ways to avoid Monthly Service Fees with $250+ in Enhanced Direct Deposits"

November 17, 2023I deposited $15,000 for 3 months to get $400 bonus. Then high minimum of $1500 to avoid monthly fees until bonus received and account could be closed. So, study the timeline carefully and watch the details, with so much investment required. I referred my husband to the offer for an additional $100 bonus.

November 16, 2023Citi has a habit of losing on the bonuses. You may have to get on a hours of hold time to get in touch with them. Make sure to keep the screenshot of any code applied and terms of the offer. Keep the account open as they may abruptly deposit the bonus after completing the requirements and months later but need to close the account at some point as this is a churnable account

November 16, 2023Take screen shots throughout the application process! Citi is great bank where you can earn bonuses once or twice a year. Take screen shots in case you need to prove you used the link for a promotion. Carefully follow the steps they lay out for the promotion. They will reliably pay the bonus most of the time without you having to contact them. If not, you can contact them with the screenshots and shouldn't have any problems. When you use Chat or Call to Close the account, be sure to log back into your account in a few days to confirm it is closed. They have been known NOT to close your account correctly, which will cause you fees or prolong your clock before you can start over and earn another bonus.

November 16, 2023I did this for my wife and me. We had $30,000 that we bounced between our two accounts and made an easy $1,000. You have to be patient with this one because the seasoning period is long, but it worked twice for us!

November 15, 2023I've had a terrible experience with Citi in the past when opening up a credit card. Hopefully things work better with their bank bonuses.

November 13, 2023This took a large balance to participate, but I did it anyway. My wife opened an account first, then referred me in, so she got an EXTRA $100 referral bonus on top of the standard bonus!

November 11, 2023I would like to be able to open a banking relationship with Citi, but the requirements for this promotion is too steep for me to swallow. So for now, I will wait and hope for a better Citi promotion.

November 3, 2023I was surprised to see a bank account bonus for $2,000, but then I saw that you had to deposit $300,000. I suspect mostly everyone will do the lower tiers, but I dream of the day that I have $300,000 liquid cash to move just to get a bank bonus. 😀
