November 15, 2023I have chased checking account bonuses for 2+ years but my worst experience was at Central Bank. I fulfilled requirements per the bonus fine print. But while the bonus fine print said there was no minimum required, if the account is left at zero over 40 days, account is closed. When I complained about the misleading bonus fine print, CSR Rachel was rude to me and told me I "obviously" should read the Account Disclosures rather than rely on the bonus offer fine print. I asked for a supervisor to call me back and a haughty VP was even more rude and self-righteous, even though I was calm (with both staffers). She didn't really listen, and clearly did not care. She told me my household cannot apply for a new account for 7 years. I felt like they were looking for me to fail, despite putting the bonus out there publicly and approving my account. It's easy to have a good relationship with customers when everyone is happy, but how a company treats the public when there is a disagreement is where an organization shows it's true colors - and Central Bank did just that. Buyer Beware.
