Available nationwide, Ally is offering a $300 welcome bonus when you open a new Spending Account (aka personal checking account) and set up direct deposit. This is the first time we've see a bonus on their checking account in a very long time and it's $100 higher than before. You'll need to have not been an Ally customer in the last 12 months to qualify.
How To Earn The Bonus
The Ally Spending Account promotion requires you to set up eligible direct deposits in order to earn the $300 bonus (step-by-step breakdown is listed above!).
As with any offer, don't forget to read the fine print before opening your new account. It's where the bank will clearly state who is eligible for the deal along with any nuances you'll want to be aware of.
The fine print
- Accounts not funded within 30 days of opening will be closed.
- Your Qualifying Direct Deposit needs to be an electronic deposit from an employer payroll, payroll provider service, or benefits payer (such as Social Security or Military Pay) and must be clearly identifiable by Ally as such. Person to Person payments (such as Zelle®) are not considered a QDD. Electronic check deposits made via your device (eCheck) are not considered QDD.
- Only New Customers who open and fund an Eligible Account using promo code GET300 are eligible to participate.
- The offer is limited to one (1) bonus per customer (even if you open more than one Eligible Account, you can only earn one $300 bonus).
- A joint owner on the same Eligible Account will not receive a separate, additional bonus.
Open a Spending Account before the bonus expires on November 18, 2025

November 11, 2023I earned the Ally $200 bonus in September 2023. It was easy and had one of the more immediate bonus payouts (based on meeting the direct deposit requirement of $1500 rather than a mandatory "waiting period" window that many of the other bonuses require). All steps were able to completed entirely online. I highly recommend doing this.

November 7, 2023I never could get this bonus to work for me, but I was also trying to force a direct deposit by using an ACH push from another bank. Struck out so far.

November 6, 2023Ally’s $200 bonus was a piece of cake to get .. and pretty generous for such easy qualifications. Direct Deposit $1500 within 90 days .. no minimum balance, no monthly fees. Easy to open, and if you absolutely need to close it, you can do that in about 90 days.
