The CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® is best suited to businesses that fly American Airlines regularly, with the companion benefit and free checked bag easily justifying the annual fee. But if you fly with other airlines just as much as American Airlines, you could earn more savings and perks with a general travel rewards card.
The CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® offers new cardholders 65,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after spending $4,000 in the first four months.
Bonus Tip: You also get a single companion pass for a domestic flight after you spend $30,000 in a single year and renew your card. But keep in mind, redeeming that certificate will cost you $99 + taxes and fees.
How To Earn The Bonus
The CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® promotion requires you to make purchases using the account's card in order to earn 65,000 bonus miles (step-by-step breakdown is listed above!).
As with any offer, don't forget to read the fine print before opening your new account. It's where the bank will clearly state who is eligible for the deal along with any nuances you'll want to be aware of.
The fine print
- American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® account in the past 48 months.
- Balance transfers, cash advances, checks that access your credit card account, items and services returned for credit, unauthorized charges, interest and account fees, traveler’s checks, purchases of foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers (and similar cash-like transactions), lottery tickets, and gaming chips (and similar betting transactions) are not purchases.
- Miles may be earned on purchases made by primary credit cardmembers and Authorized Users.
- Miles earned will be posted to the primary credit cardmember’s AAdvantage® account.

How does this Business Card from Citi® compare?
To help you determine how this bonus stacks against the rest, here are some of the most popular offers available right now:
Why Citi®?
Citi is headquartered in New York and has around 2,600 locations worldwide (about 1,000 of those are here in the U.S.) and over 65,000+ ATMs worldwide. So you really never need to worry about getting access to your cash.
Citi is best known for their credit cards, but they offer just about every product you'd expect from a big national bank – covering banking, lending, investing, and wealth management.
What we really love about Citi is the consistent promotions, usually available nationwide. When you open a new account or credit card, Citi will very often give you bonus cash.
What's more, Citi promotions are often tiered. The low requirements make the offers accessible to most people, but even better, Citi will reward you big if you can meet the highest terms.
