Available nationwide with the ability to open online, Amex is offering a 30,000 MR Points welcome bonus when you open a new business checking account and make qualifying transactions. Previously, this was a cash offer (and about half as much), but Amex is now offering it as Membership Rewards points which means you can likely stretch it further if you redeem for travel. This is a rare offer from American Express and relatively easy to earn.
How To Earn The Bonus
The Amex Business Checking promotion requires you to deposit and maintain a minimum balance and make purchases using the account's card in order to earn the 30,000 MR bonus points (step-by-step breakdown is listed above!).
As with any offer, don't forget to read the fine print before opening your new account. It's where the bank will clearly state who is eligible for the deal along with any nuances you'll want to be aware of.
The fine print
- You can receive only one new Business Checking account opening deposit bonus per Business.

How does this business checking offer from Amex compare?
To help you determine how this bonus stacks against the rest, here are some of the most popular offers available right now:
Why American Express?
As one of the most recognizable brands in the world, the odds are that you've heard of American Express. This New York-based financial institution has been around for over 170 years and is best known as a credit card issuer, with more than 20% of all American credit card transactions coming from an Amex card.
But did you know that Amex offers more financial products than just credit cards?
Through its Salt Lake City-based consumer banking subsidiary, American Express National Bank, Amex also offers online high-yield savings accounts and Certificates of Deposit.
Amex doesn't often run promotions for their savings products (and when they do, they're typically targeted offers that you'll need to receive directly), but they do have several bonus offers and incentives for new credit card holders from our partners.

November 15, 2023Thanks Jon Snow for the DP that applying as a sole proprietor provided you instant approval. I am now confident about submitting an app for my own Amex Biz checking account. Really great to hear you were not asked to provide any business documentation.

November 3, 2023I decided to open an American Express Business Checking Account, I honestly didn’t know about the bonus offer at the time. The process was straightforward, especially since I could open the account online and that is the main reason I opened an account with AMEX for it is easy and convenient. I did have to make/receive a few calls for verification purposes, but it was quick and no problem. What I did learn about the bonuses after the fact because I kind of rushed through the application after going through the process so many times. To qualify for the bonus, businesses need to meet certain transaction requirements, which may involve maintaining a minimum balance and card spending. While this can be achievable, it might not be suitable for all businesses, especially smaller ones. The offer transitioning from a cash bonus to MR Points may not be as appealing to businesses that prefer immediate cash rewards. It may limit the flexibility for those who need cash for immediate expenses. Thankfully I needed the account and not the bonuses.
