How to Join Credit Union 1
Credit unions differ from banks in that they restrict membership based on a shared common bond, or the credit union’s “field of membership”.
That means in order to qualify for this bonus (or any offer from a credit union), you'll first need to meet Credit Union 1's membership requirements:
- Qualify within their fields of membership
- Make a $5 to the Credit Union 1 Educational Development Association (CU1EDA)
Keep in mind that nearly all credit unions have a "once a member, always a member" policy, so once you're in, the above restrictions no longer apply.
Credit Union 1 Locations
Credit unions are community-based, and a lot of the time this means they serve a specific geographic footprint.
Sometimes eligibility requirements will mean that you need to live, work, or worship in that area to become a member. Other times, you may be required to visit a branch in-person to take advantage of a welcome offer. Or, you may just prefer the convenience of banking with institutions that have locations near you.
